The U2 building created a facility to support the respiratory product stream manufacturing asthmatic inhalers for the US market. The building forms phase 1 of a major new development and production facility
A fast-track project, taking one year from inception to completion and product manufacture, the building was designed to enable fit out to progress in tandem with the external fabric and to allow work to progress at all levels.
U2 Building comprises:
Ground Floor: 1200 sq m Production facility incorporating Class 10,000 Clean rooms and Class 100,000 packing and assembly hall
Mezzanine: 350 sq m Ancillary accommodation housing Primary Change, Toilet, Shower Facilities and Rest Rooms. This structure is hung from the first floor to allow for maximum flexibility on the ground floor. The creation of an independent walk on ceiling enables high level work to take place above the production facility.
First floor: 1,000 sq m of Plant room.
Designed to comply with FM standards, the building has a steel frame with an in-situ power float hollow rib first floor and a load bearing ground floor slab. The foundations are deep fill mass concrete pad with pre-cast ground beams. The external envelope comprises composite walls/roof panels with curtain wall elements, all of which are set upon a polished block plinth
